WINNSBORO

Just north of Columbia on the way to Charlotte, Winnsboro is the county
seat of Fairfield County. This town of approximately 4,000 residents was chartered in 1785 and has a number
of buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The oldest continuously running clock in the nation, built in 1833 in historic downtown Winnsboro, is the site of the annual Rock Around the Clock festival.
