Each summer, the Carolina Panthers NFL team visits Spartanburg to train at Wofford College. Wofford is one of several colleges in the Upstate city, which is home to the first airport in South Carolina, as well as the first television station, WSPA-TV. Once a peach capital, today Spartanburg is a manufacturing center that produces high-tech chemicals and fibers as well as automobiles.
