With its 60-mile stretch of wide beaches known as the Grand Strand, the Myrtle Beach area is a popular vacation and convention attraction for visitors from all over the eastern United States and Canada. The area is also known as a golf destination, with more than 100 courses ranging from PGA level to putt-putt. Myrtle Beach was incorporated in 1938 and became a city in 1957.
